I'm Marcus Reeves, the licensed Victorian builder behind Marwood Building Inspections. I started in the trade at fifteen as an apprentice carpenter — and from early on I was running jobs, not just working on them. By nineteen I'd started my own business, MPR Building & Carpentry, a maintenance company servicing inner Melbourne suburbs. Over the years that grew into a small team of six, working with real estate agents across the eastern suburbs. I kept building from there — literally. While running the business I worked toward my full builder's registration, which I attained in 2023, and moved into completing renovations and extensions for clients across bayside Melbourne. After back surgery in 2024 it was time for a change. Fifteen years of running crews and physically building homes had given me a deep understanding of how houses are actually put together — and where things go wrong. Rather than slow down, I decided to use that knowledge differently.

That's why I started Marwood Building Inspections. I now offer pre-purchase building inspections and staged new-build inspections to home owners and buyers across Melbourne — helping people avoid the costly mistakes I've spent fifteen years watching happen. I also use that experience to consult and prepare VCAT reports for clients who've had work completed below acceptable standards — providing the independent, qualified assessment needed to support their case. I work for you, not the builder. I know what gets missed because I've been the one building it. And I know what is and isn't actually a defect — what's major, what's minor, what's cosmetic — and critically, what sits within the allowed tolerances. That distinction matters, and it's one a lot of inspectors can't make with confidence.
